Everything has changed: Singapore’s decade in LGBTQ equality 2010 –2019

10 years have passed since the first constitutional challenge was filed by Tan Eng Hong and M Ravi to strike down Section 377A of the Penal Code in September 2010. The decade closes with yet another constitutional challenge— this time by three separate teams of lawyers — after ambassador Prof Tommy Koh urged the LGBTQ community to “try again”.

Section 377A is often the most familiar story of LGBTQ equality. But if that is the only story we tell ourselves, it might feel like nothing has changed over the past…
